About Joel

Joel Shinn, Dan’s brother, started at Lay’s Guitar Shop in 1991 and has been with the company for 27 years. Joel and Dan became partners in 2016. Joel worked in commercial advertising prior to starting at Lay’s. His creative background is revealed in the designing and painting of custom guitars, many of which are featured on the Portfolio page. Joel handles all of the CAD Design and CNC machining of the guitars at the shop. Joel travels to Costa Rica with his wife, Carla, to visit her family when he’s not in the shop.
